Condition for a Chord to Pass Through a Fixed Point

If the chord joining parameters $$t_1,t_2$$ passes through $$(x_1,y_1)$$:

$$y_1(t_1+t_2)=2x_1+2at_1t_2$$

Usage

- Used to establish a relation between endpoint parameters when a chord passes through a known point.

Question 1

Through the vertex $$O(0,0)$$ of the parabola $$y^2 = 4x$$, two chords $$OP$$ and $$OQ$$ are drawn at right angles to one another. For all positions of $$P$$, the chord $$PQ$$ cuts the axis of the parabola at a fixed point $$(k, 0)$$.

Find the integer value of $$k$$.
