Number of Normals from a Point

The parameters of normals drawn from $$(x_1,y_1)$$ satisfy:

$$at^3+(2a-x_1)t-y_1=0$$

Usage

- Used to determine the possible normals from a given point.

Question 1

Three normals are drawn from the point $$P(3,0)$$ to the parabola $$y^2=4x.$$ If the ordinates of the feet of the normals are $$\alpha,\beta,\gamma,$$ then the value of $$\alpha^2+\beta^2+\gamma^2$$ is:
