Focal Chord

A chord of the parabola passing through its focus is called a focal chord.

If its endpoints correspond to parameters $$t_1,t_2$$, then:

$$t_1t_2=-1$$

Usage

- Used to identify whether a chord is a focal chord.

Question 1

A focal chord of the parabola $$y^2 = 12x$$ is also a tangent to the circle $$(x - 5)^2 + y^2 = 2$$. If the slopes of all such focal chords are $$m_1$$ and $$m_2$$, then the value of $$4(m_1^2 + m_2^2)$$ is equal to:
