Crystallization

Principle: Difference in solubilities of the organic compound and its impurities in a suitable solvent at room temperature vs. elevated temperatures.

Process: Dissolve impure solid in hot solvent to form a saturated solution $$\to$$ Filter hot solution to remove insoluble impurities $$\to$$ Cool filtrate slowly to form pure crystals.
