Percentage of Halogen (Carius Method)

Rarely Tested

$$ \% \mathrm{Br} = \frac{80}{188} \times \frac{\mathrm{Mass of AgBr}}{\mathrm{Mass of compound}} \times 100 $$
$$ \% \mathrm{Cl} = \frac{35.5}{143.5} \times \frac{\mathrm{Mass of AgCl}}{\mathrm{Mass of compound}} \times 100 $$

Calculates halogen percentage from silver halide precipitate. Molar masses: AgBr = 188 g/mol, AgCl = 143.5 g/mol.
