The total number of IITs in India is 23 IITs along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, making a total of 24 premier institutes. All these institutes require a qualification in JEE Advanced 2026. However, IISC BS programmers need JEE Mains as a primary requirement.

A total of 32 institutes fall under this category, including 31 NITs and IIEST Shibpur. NITs offer strong placements, modern campuses, and lower fees than many private engineering colleges.
