IIM CAP Interview 2025: The IIM Common Admission Process (IIM CAP) is a centralized selection process for certain Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), referred to as “baby IIMs.” In 2025, a total of eight IIMs are participating in IIM CAP.

What is the IIM CAP Interview Process?

The IIM CAP 2025, conducted by IIM Bodh Gaya, is an offline admission process for MBA programs at eight IIM colleges. Registration began in January 2025. The PI/WAT rounds will be conducted from 17 February to 22 March 2025.

During the Personal Interview (PI), a panel assesses candidates based on their academic background, work experience (if any), communication skills, general awareness, and overall personality. The interviews will take place in eight cities, these are: Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Guwahati, and Raipur.

IIM CAP 2025 Participating Colleges

IIM CAP streamlines the admission process for participating IIMs. This ensures a uniform selection process while reducing the burden of multiple candidate interviews. The process is expected to begin in February 2025. Further, IIM CAP admission criteria evaluate a candidate on their CAT scores, academic background, work experience and performance on the WAT (written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview) round.

Simply put, the IIM CAP 2025 is a joint initiative by 7 IIMs to conduct the PI and WAT rounds for MBA/ Post Graduate degree 2025- 2027 batch admission.

IIM CAP Cutoff Percentile for PI and WAT 2025

The table below shows the sectional and overall percentile CAT cutoffs for candidates eligible to appear in the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) of the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025.

Step-by-Step Guide to IIM CAP Interview Process

From applying to IIM CAP to sitting for the interview, take a look at the following steps explaining the entire IIM CAP interview process:

Step 1. Fill Out the CAP Application Form

The candidates need to fill out the CAP application form if they fulfil the eligibility criteria and exceed/match the CAT cut-offs. In the application, the candidates need to select the MBA programs of the eight participating IIMs to be considered for admission. Additionally, some IIMs offer specialized MBA programs alongside their core MBA courses. Candidates interested in these programs must select them in the form. Further, in the CAP application form, the candidates must opt for four different cities (in order of preference) to appear in the PI/WAT process.

Step 2. Shortlisting of Candidates

Based on cutoffs the candidates are shortlisted for CAP PI by participating IIMs. The selected candidates receive an email invitation.

Step 3. Selection of Interview Slots

The date-slot portal will open after the closure of the CAP application as per the timeline. Candidates will be able to select the date and slot for the allotted city. Candidates must select their preferred cities for the PI round at the time of CAP registration. Slots are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Step 4. Personal Interview (PI) Round

Candidates are interviewed by a panel consisting of faculty members and industry experts. The interview focuses on academic background, work experience, career goals, and knowledge of current affairs. Some questions may be related to the candidate’s domain expertise, hobbies, and personal interests.

Step 5. Performance Evaluation and Weightage

Each participating IIM assigns its weightage to the interview score, CAT 2024 percentile, academic profile, work experience, and diversity factors. Further, the final merit list is created based on the respective admission criteria of each IIM.
