Asymptotes of a Horizontal Hyperbola
For:
$$\frac{x^2}{a^2}-\frac{y^2}{b^2}=1$$
the asymptotes are:
$$y=\pm\frac{b}{a}x$$
Terminology
- Asymptote → A line that the hyperbola approaches indefinitely.
Usage
- Used to determine the shape, orientation and limiting lines of the hyperbola.
