## Formula

If repetition is allowed and there are $$n$$ available digits, the number of $$r$$-digit strings is:

$$n^r$$

For $$r$$-digit numbers using digits $0,1,\ldots,n-1$ with repetition allowed:

$$(n-1)n^{r-1}$$

## Usage

- Used to count numbers when digits may be repeated.
