Kp and Kc Relationship

Rarely Tested

  • $$K_p = K_c(RT)^{\Delta n_g}$$
  • Concept: Connects pressure and concentration constants using the ideal gas law.
  • Notation:
    • $$R$$= $$0.0821 \text{L}\cdot\text{atm}\cdot\text{K}^{-1}\text{mol}^{-1}$$ (or $$8.314 \text{ J}\cdot\text{K}^{-1}\text{mol}^{-1}$$)
    • $$T$$ = Absolute temperature ($$\text{K}$$)
    • $$\Delta n_g$$ = $$\sum n_{\text{gaseous products}} - \sum n_{\text{gaseous reactants}}$$
