CMAT Preparation: Pattern & Eligibility 2027
NTA releases the CMAT exam pattern in the CMAT information bulletin. The CMAT 2027 exam will last 180 minutes. There will be no sectional time limit. Based on the previous year's exam paper patterns, CMAT exam pattern for 2026 is given below.

Eligibility Criteria:
The following are the NTA's important eligibility criteria for CMAT:
Candidates for the CMAT 2027 must be Indian residents.
The candidate must have a three-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field from an AICTE-approved institute/university.
Candidates in the last year of their bachelor's degree are allowed to apply for the CMAT exam if they complete the final year during the same academic year.
There are no minimum scoring requirements for CMAT 2027. Candidates must have passed their graduate exam.
However, maximum CMAT participating colleges require a minimum score of 50% (45% for reserved categories).
There is no upper age limit for applying and taking the CMAT exam.

CMAT Preparation Plan 2027
The CMAT Preparation Plan 2027 can be divided into three important phases.
Phase 1: This phase focuses on finishing the syllabus, which covers Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Each section requires a unique approach - Quant is concept-driven, Logical Reasoning requires significant practice, Verbal includes concepts and reading skills, and General Awareness is memory-based. Begin with your weakest subject, complete one topic at a time, and save GK for the end.
Phase 2: This phase focuses on practice with sample papers and mock tests. After you've finished the syllabus, practise with previous year papers and mock tests to boost your speed, accuracy, and understanding of exam patterns. After each test, analyse your performance and focus on your weak areas.
Phase 3: This phase is dedicated to revision. Spend the final two weeks revising formulas, concepts, and shortcuts. To score well on the exam day, avoid new topics, be consistent, and rest the day before the exam.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
This section consists of 20 questions, each with four marks. Remember that a negative marking of -1 is applicable, so attempt accordingly.
Memorise the basics of calculation in the exam hall, such as tables up to 50, square roots, and cubes up to 25.
The only way to pass this section is through consistent practice. Solve mock tests and previous years' question papers at least three times each week during the final few days of preparation. Remember that this is a calculation-based section.
While solving mock tests, do not exceed the time limit set by the exam. Also, aim to get the minimum cutoff score for this section.
The main objective of this section is to check your mathematical skills in areas such as arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
Identify your weaknesses with mock tests. Constant practice will improve students' accuracy and speed.
Instead of doing a step-by-step calculation for each question, use shortcut tricks to save time.
Logical Reasoning
The primary objective of this section is to assess the candidate's reasoning abilities.
