Best GFTIs Through CSAB Special Rounds

The best GFTIs through CSAB Special Rounds depend on the available programmes and college-wise seats. JoSAA 2026 has 56 participating institutions under the official other-GFTI category. CSAB fills the remaining NIT+ System seats through 2 Special Rounds after JoSAA.

CSAB does not publish a universal ranking for GFTIs. This article provides the verified data for 2026 GFTIs vacancies open through CSAB. Along with vacancies, it is important to consider programme availability, branch variety, previous cutoffs, and your personal preferences. You must also check your quota, seat category, gender pool, and JEE Main rank.

Opening and closing ranks show previous allotment patterns. The 2026 vacancy list shows available seats before the Special Rounds. While such data is helpful, it is crucial to understand that seat allotment depends on fresh choices and current competition. Refer to CSAB Counselling 2026 for choice filling, allotment, reporting, and seat-related rules.

List of Top GFTIs Participating in CSAB Counselling

The following GFTIs are the top GFTIs participating in CSAB counselling. Every GFTI appears in the tentative CSAB 2026 vacancy PDF. The list of GFTIs participating in CSAB counselling is shortlisted based on 3 factors:

  • Whether the GFTI offers relevant CSE, IT, ECE, core, or specialized programmes.
  • Tentative vacancies for 2026.
  • Whether the available GFTI programmes support different branch and rank preferences.

The totals below combine every programme, quota, category, and gender pool for each GFTI. These figures are not specific to each candidate showing seat availability for them.

Best GFTIs Through CSAB for CSE and IT

CSE and IT are separate academic programmes in the official CSAB vacancy list. You must not combine Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or integrated computing programmes under CSE.

The following table shows the listed 2026 vacancies across all categories and seat pools. It shows programme availability, not an expected GFTI CSE cutoff through CSAB.

Top GFTIs for CSE Through CSAB

BIT Mesra has the highest listed CSE vacancy count among all GFTIs. Its 68 vacancies cover different categories and gender pools. An OPEN gender-neutral candidate must not treat all 68 seats as available.

Only a few shortlisted GFTIs list IT as a separate programme. IIIT Bhubaneswar has 17 listed IT vacancies. Puducherry Technological University has 6 IT vacancies. You must check the curriculum and degree duration before comparing the choices.

Several other GFTIs offer the following computing programmes:

  • BIT Mesra lists 26 vacancies in CSE with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  • PEC Chandigarh lists CSE programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
  • SLIET lists 23 vacancies in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

GFTIs for Core and Specialized Engineering Branches

Several best GFTI branches through CSAB fall outside CSE, IT, and ECE. These options may suit those with clear interests in infrastructure, manufacturing, chemicals, transport, or materials. You must not select a branch only because it has more listed vacancies. It is important to check the academic programme, degree type, duration, restrictions, and course structure.

  • BIT Mesra lists 95 Chemical Engineering and 90 Mechanical Engineering vacancies.
  • SLIET lists 71 Mechanical Engineering and 42 Food Technology vacancies.
  • PEC Chandigarh lists 47 Civil Engineering and 35 Mechanical Engineering vacancies.
  • NIAMT Ranchi lists 35 Production and Industrial Engineering vacancies.
  • Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya offers rail, aviation, maritime, and transport-focused programmes.
  • ICT Mumbai’s Odisha campus lists 52 vacancies in its five-year integrated Chemical Engineering programme.

CSAB Cutoffs for Top GFTIs

The official CSAB GFTI cutoff 2026 is not available as of July 31, 2026. CSAB will announce Round I allotment on August 6, 2026. Round II allotment will follow on August 12, 2026. The actual opening and closing ranks can appear only after these allotments.

Meanwhile, use the official 2025 cutoffs until CSAB publishes the 2026 ranks. The official portal reports every cutoff as an All India CRL. It is important to select the correct programme, round, quota, category, and gender pool.

An opening rank shows the first allotted seat while closing rank shows the last allotted seat under the general category. The opening rank does not represent minimum eligibility and it also does not guarantee allotment in the next counselling year.

You must compare their JEE Main CRL with the relevant closing rank. They should use the same cutoff year and CSAB round. The quota, seat category, gender pool, rank type, and programme must also match.

A larger closing-rank number shows that allotment extended further numerically. It does not make that GFTI or programme better. Vacancies, candidate choices, category distribution, and programme demand can change the next cutoff.

Previous-year CSAB opening and closing ranks for GFTIs provide a planning reference. They cannot show the final 2026 competition. Students should replace previous data after CSAB publishes the official Round I and Round II ranks.

How to Choose the Right GFTIs During CSAB Choice Filling

Preference order directly controls which acceptable seat the allotment system considers first. You must submit fresh CSAB choices. Your JoSAA choices do not carry forward into the Special Rounds.

CSAB displays every eligible NIT+ programme on the candidate portal, regardless of its listed vacancy status. The published vacancy matrix remains tentative. Additional seats may become available during counselling. You must include a preferred eligible programme without a displayed vacancy.

Follow these steps while preparing CSAB choice filling for GFTIs:

  1. Confirm that each institute belongs to the official other-GFTI category.
  2. Check the exact academic programme listed on the CSAB portal.
  3. Review the latest vacancy matrix before arranging the choices.
  4. Compare previous cutoffs under the same allotment conditions.
  5. Separate institute preference from programme preference.
  6. Check the programme duration and degree type.
  7. Review all applicable course restrictions before adding a choice.
  8. Place every option in genuine preference order.
  9. Save choices regularly before the final locking deadline.
  10. Add only programmes that you would accept after allotment.

The CSAB College Predictor can support the initial rank-based shortlist. You must verify every result through official CSAB data. You must confirm the programme, vacancy, category, quota, gender pool, and course restrictions.

A practical GFTI choice list can use the following three groups:

Choice TypePosition in the ListHow to Select It
Higher-preference choicesPlace these options firstInclude preferred combinations even when earlier cutoffs closed before your CRL
Rank-aligned choicesPlace these below higher preferencesUse previous cutoffs that remain near your CRL under matching conditions
Wider-closing-rank choicesPlace acceptable options lowerInclude combinations with wider previous ranges that you would genuinely join

Factors to Consider Before Joining a GFTI Through CSAB

The GFTI label alone does not establish programme suitability, fees, campus conditions, or academic structure.

Programme and Academic Conditions

The official institute website should provide the latest curriculum and programme structure. You must check core subjects, electives, laboratories, specialisations, and academic rules.

  • Confirm whether the allotted course is a four-year or integrated programme.
  • Review the exact degree title shown in the allotment letter.
  • Check whether the curriculum matches your academic interests.
  • Compare specialised programmes through their subjects, not their names.
  • Treat current vacancies and previous closing ranks as different data points.

Fees, Location and Campus Arrangements

GFTI fees can differ by institute and programme. You must use the latest fee notice from the allotted institute. CSAB advises candidates to verify institute information before filling and accepting choices.

  • Check tuition fees, hostel charges, mess fees, and one-time payments.
  • Confirm refundable deposits, waivers, scholarships, and payment deadlines.
  • Review hostel availability for the first academic year.
  • Check whether the institute operates from a permanent or temporary campus.
  • Consider travel time, local transport, climate, and living arrangements.
  • Verify laboratories, classrooms, libraries, and other academic facilities.

Reporting and Seat-Related Rules

A CSAB allotment requires timely online reporting and document verification. Round I reporting runs from August 6 to August 10, 2026. Round II reporting runs from August 12 to August 14, 2026. You must check the allotted institute’s physical reporting dates separately.

  • Confirm the IAF-II payment status before the reporting deadline.
  • Upload every required document in the prescribed format.
  • Respond to document-verification queries within the official timeline.
  • Check institute instructions for physical reporting and balance fee payment.
  • Review Freeze, Float, Slide, Surrender, Withdraw, and Exit rules carefully.
  • Understand the refund effect before cancelling or surrendering a seat.

Best GFTIs Through CSAB Special Rounds: Conclusion

The best GFTIs through CSAB Special Rounds 2026 should be selected by comparing programme availability, branch-wise vacancies, previous cutoffs and individual preferences. BIT Mesra, PEC Chandigarh, SLIET, SMVDU and other participating institutes offer options across CSE, IT, ECE, core engineering and specialised programmes. However, the published vacancy totals combine different categories, quotas and gender pools, so they do not represent the seats available to every candidate.

Before locking CSAB choices, candidates should compare their JEE Main CRL with the relevant previous closing ranks and verify the exact programme, category, quota and gender pool. Fees, curriculum, degree duration, campus facilities, hostel availability and location should also influence the final preference order. A balanced list of higher-preference, rank-aligned and wider-closing-rank choices can improve the chances of securing a suitable GFTI seat.
