Question 5

If ‘$$-$$’ stands for addition, ‘$$+$$’ for multiplication, ‘$$\div$$’ for subtraction and ‘$$\times$$’ for division, which one of the following equations is correct ?

Solution

By Trial and Error method,

Option A

$$5\times2+12-6\div2=13$$

$$5\times2+12-3=13$$

$$10+12-3=13$$

$$19=13$$

Hence Option A is incorrect

Option B

$$5\times2+12\div6-2=10$$

$$5\times2+2-2=10$$

$$10+2-2=10$$

$$10=10$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option B
