The ratio of the incomes of A and B is 3 : 5, whereas the ratio of their expenditures is 4 : 7 respectively. If A and B save ₹16,000 and ₹26,000, respectively, then what is the difference (in ₹) between their expenditures?

Let income of A and B be $$3x$$ and $$5x$$ respectively. Similarly expenditures of A and B be $$4y$$ and $$7y$$ respectively.

Thus, according to ques, => $$3x-4y=16000$$ --------------(i)

and $$5x-7y=26000$$ ----------(ii)

Subtracting 3 times equation (ii) from 5 times equation (i),

=> $$y=2000$$

$$\therefore$$ Difference between their expenditures = $$7y-4y=3y$$

= $$3\times2000=Rs.$$ $$6000$$
