    XAT QA-DI Topic-Wise Weightage

One of the most respected management entrance tests in India is the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). For this particular exam, the two sections of quantitative skills (QA) and data interpretation (DI) represent a large portion of the total score that will determine an individual’s overall appearance on the score list. It is important to understand the weightage, or the number of questions asked from each of these areas, to better prepare for this section of the test. By utilizing the information discussed in this blog post, one should be able to prepare for the QA-DI portion of the XAT with greater success.

    QA-DI in XAT Overview

The QA-DI (Quantitative Ability) area is one of the most important components of the XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test). It evaluates an individual's mathematical skills, the ability to solve problems, and the ability to analyze data. Scoring well on QA-DI is beneficial to the test-taker since it impacts their overall score; in addition, strong performance in QA-DI also validates the test-taker’s ability to meet expectations for the section of XAT.

    DI & Caselet Weightage

    • DI typically accounts for 25%-35% of QA-DI, so expect to see 5-8 DI questions on the exam.
    • Common types of DI questions are graphs, tables, mixed charts, and scenario-based data.
    • Recent trends show that DI continues to test reasoning in addition to calculation, not just plugging in numbers.
    • Having a strong DI score may help your overall score dramatically.

    Geometry & Misc

Moderate frequency; easy if concepts are clear

    Balance

XAT tests a wide range of topics; no section is neglected

    Scoring Benchmark

20–22 correct answers out of 28 is often sufficient for top percentile

    Preparation Strategy for QA-DI

    1. Master Core QA Topics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Number System.
    2. Practice Geometry & Mensuration: Moderate frequency but scoring if concepts are clear.
    3. Regular DI Practice: Focus on bar charts, tables, pie charts, caselets.
    4. Timed Mock Tests: Simulate exam conditions (QA + DI combined).
    5. Accuracy Over Quantity: Negative marking penalizes random guesses.
    6. Balanced Coverage: Don’t over-specialize; XAT tests a broad range of topics.

    XAT QA-DI Topic-Wise Weightage: Conclusion

QA-DI is a section of XAT, which includes both mathematical reasoning and analytical reasoning, so it is one of the most difficult sections in the test, and yet, if prepared appropriately, it has the potential to be one of the sections where you will score the highest. The majority of the QA questions will be based on topics in arithmetic, algebra, or number systems. The highest potential to score in this section is by studying multiple methods of solving questions, taking regular mock tests, and increasing your accuracy when answering the test. By having a systematic and trend-based approach to QA-DI, it can be a section where candidates can score well and have a good competitive edge compared to other applicants.
