MAH CET CAP Rounds and Admission Process Explained
Admission to all CAP-participating colleges happens through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) run by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. After results are declared, candidates fill an option form ranking their preferred colleges and courses. Seats are allotted based on your percentile rank and listed preferences.
CAP Round 1: If you are allotted a seat matching your first preference, it is automatically frozen. You must confirm the admission within the given window. Accepting this seat makes you ineligible for all future rounds, so make sure your top choices genuinely reflect what you want.
CAP Round 2: A seat matching any of your top three preferences will be auto-frozen. Once you accept, you exit all further rounds. This round often sees slightly lower cutoffs than Round 1 at certain colleges.
CAP Round 3: If a seat matches any of your top six preferences, it gets locked. You must take admission and will not be able to participate in any round after this.
CAP Round 4: This is the final round. Whatever seat you are allotted here is permanent. No further changes, upgrades, or round participation is allowed after this.
