GIM: Goa Institute of Management

Goa institute of Management popularly known as GIM ,is located in a state which possesses one of the most global outlook in the country. The campus is located in the north goa amidst beautiful hills and is not only comfortable but also modern with all its facilities. GIM takes in pride by hosting over 900 students from different states of India harboring a rich cultural diversity. GIM's popular tagline ''GIM never sleeps'' is indeed true as there is never a dull moment here , the surroundings are vibrant with over 20 clubs and 80 yearly events. The management institute also adds one more feather in its cap by being in 'Best B-schools for the World' in the Positive Impact Rating 2023.

GIM offers 6 programs for post graduation ,one being the flagship , four next generation and one an online course. There is also a doctoral program for PhD. The six PG programs offered are -

  • PGDM (Full-time)
  • Healthcare Management (Full- time)
  • Big Data Analytics (Full- time)
  • Banking, Insurance and Financial Services (Full-time)
  • International Double Degree in Analytics
  • Hybrid PGDM (Online)

PGDM

  • Minimum 50% aggregate in Bachelor’s Degree (45% for SC/ST category). Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by June 2024 may also apply provided they have scored 50% in the last examination held. SC/ST candidates are offered a relaxation of 5 % and for them the minimum score should be 45%.
  • The candidate must have taken any one of the following exams:
    • XAT 2024
    • CAT 2023
    • GMAT taken between 01 January 2022 to 15 January 2024.
    • CMAT Exam scores will not be considered for admissions to the Batch of 2024-26.
  • Note- The candidates applying under Achiever's Round can also apply through their past year CAT/XAT scores.

The Eligibility for PGDM program is the basic minimum eligibility for all the programs. The special additional requirements if there are any for the other programs are mentioned ahead:

Healthcare Management (HCM)

There is a preference for candidates from following fields-

  • Health care related disciplines like MBBS, BDS, BHMS , BAMS, Bsc etc.
  • Engineering related disciplines like electronics and biotech.

Experience of working in Health Care Organizations would enhance the profile.

Candidates without a background in medicine or allied fields at undergraduate level can also apply.

Big Data Analytics (BDA)

GIM Analytics Aptitude Test (GAAT) - 28 January 2024 is mandatory . It is a 75 minutes online aptitude test with multiple choice questions. The syllabus for the exam will comprise of:

  • Statistics
  • Probability
  • Comprehension
  • Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Linear Algebra
  • Calculus
  • Technology & Business awareness
  • Basic coding

GAAT will be held online with no extra cost. The candidates will be sent a test link for GAAT, which can be taken from anywhere. Every wrong answer will lead to a 25 per cent negative marks.

Banking, Insurance and Financial Services (BIFS)

Candidates with following profile are preferred for this course-

  • Those who have experience in working in financial Sector.
  • Possess related qualification profiles (CA, CFA, CPA, FRM).
  • Have aptitude & interest in BIFS.

International Double Degree in Analytics (IDA)

  • The IDA program requires that candidates must hold a minimum of 30 months of full-time work experience, with a preference for 36 months.
  • Candidates applying for the IDA programme need to submit a ‘Statement of Purpose’.
  • The candidate must appear for at least one of the following English Proficiency Exams. The candidate should submit the score by 31 May, 2024 and must attain the scores mentioned:
    • i) TOEFL iBT - Minimum score: 100 (TOEFL Code for GIM: D536)
    • ii) IELTS - Minimum score: 7.0
    • iii) Cambridge English Proficiency exam (CPE) - Minimum grade: C
    • iv) Cambridge English Advanced exam (CAE) - Minimum grade: B
    • v) Cambridge English Business Certificates (BEC) - Minimum grade: B
  • The candidates will have to appear for the GIM Analytics Aptitude Test (GAAT).
  • The age of the candidate as on 1st June 2024, should not exceed 26 years.

Hybrid PGDM

This program is best suitable for executives who wish to advance quickly in their careers and have a bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 50% marks. Moreover at least 3 years (post the completion of graduation) of work experience is mandated.

  1. Registration

    - The candidates should register for the programs they are interrsted in through the official website of GIM once they announce the date for registrations.

  2. Shortlisting

    - Depending upon the cutoffs for entrances like CAT/XAT/GMAT and also considering the profile of the candidate for the course they have applied for , GIM shortlists and send them mails regarding further stages.

  3. Achievers / Elite Interview

    - Those who have applied for achiever's or elite interviews will be called before the regular ones depending on the criterias decided by the institute. If you perform well there you may be provided a spot offer. If you get the minimum scores as mandated by the institute in entrances your admission will be secured. The candidates who are not selected through achiever's or elite round are still eligible for regular rounds but they need not give interview again.   4. Regular Round Interviews

    - The selected candidates appear for a written ability test (WAT) and give a personal interview online or offline as decided by the institute.

  5. Final Selection

    - A composite score is calculated for final selection considering academic profile, Entrance scores, work experience. WATΠ etc. The weightage for each in PGDM is provided below-

Note- Objective assessment is based on XAT, CAT, GMAT score and the Leadership assessment shall be based on Individual Assessment in Group Activity -interaction with peers and evaluators.

Note- The objective assessment shall be based on GAAT score and XAT, CAT, GMAT score.

A merit list would be released and selected candidates would be notified by the institute. They would be offered admission letters after payment of fees and other formalities.

FAQs

What is Early Bird or First Mover Advantage ?

The candidates who register online in the initial days of registration need to pay less than those who register late. The amount is approximately half of what is paid in later days.

Do i need to send my CAT/XAT scores to GIM?

No, GIM automatically retrieves scores from IIM and XLRI who conduct CAT and XAT respectively.

Will GIM accept CMAT for admissions?

No, this year the admission committee has decided not to accept CMAT scores for 2024-26 admissions.

Is there any reservation for Goa domicile?

There are no reservations but at the time of cutoff announcement , their cutoffs may be lowered by upto 15 points.
