Question 82

A milk merchant buys 50 litres of milk at the rate of Rs 40 per litre and mixes 5 litres of water in it. If he sells this mixture at the rate of Rs 42 per litre, then what is the profit percentage for the dealer?

Solution

Cost price of 1 litres of milk = Rs. 40

=> Cost price of 50 litres of milk = $$40\times 50=Rs.$$ $$2000$$

After adding 5 litres of water, => Selling price of 55 litres of milk mixture = $$42\times55=Rs.$$ $$2310$$

$$\therefore$$ Profit % = $$\frac{(2310-2000)}{2000}\times100$$

= $$\frac{310}{20}=15.5\%$$

=> Ans - (D)
