The ratio of number of boys and girls in a class is 2 : 3. The average weight of boys and girls in the class is 18 kg and 21 kg respectively. What is the average weight (in kgs) of all the boys and girls together

Solution

Let the number of boys in class = 2 and number of girls = 3

Average weight of boys = 18 kg

=> Total weight of boys = $$18\times2=36$$ kg

Similarly, total weight of girls = $$21\times3=63$$ kg

$$\therefore$$ Average weight (in kgs) of all the boys and girls together = $$\frac{36+63}{(2+3)}$$

= $$\frac{99}{5}$$

=> Ans - (A)
