Comprehension:
The following bar chart shows the education level of men in Village X. Please answer the following two questions based on the bar chart.
If the population ratio (i.e. the proportion of men and women) in Village X is 10:8, and female literacy is 60%, estimate the number of literate women in Village X (Use data from the previous question)
Let the total number of men be x.
Given, the total percentage of literate people= 75%, which is given to be 1200.
So, $$75\%\ \times\ x=1200$$
=> $$\ \frac{\ 75}{100}\times\ x=1200$$
=> $$\ \frac{\ 3}{4}\times\ x=1200$$
=> $$\ \ x=1200\times\ \ \frac{\ 4}{3}$$
.'. x= 1600.
Since men:women ratio is 10:8, i.e for every 10 men, there are 8 women.
So, for 1600 men, number of women will be $$\ \frac{\ 8}{10}\times\ 1600$$= 1280.
Women literacy is given to be 60%.
So, number of literate women= $$\ \frac{60}{100}\times\ 1280$$= 768- Option C.
