Question 7

Out of two numbers, 30% of the smaller number is equal to 18% of the larger number. If the sum of the two numbers is 840, then what is the value of the larger number?

Solution

Let the smaller number be $$x$$ and larger number = $$(840-x)$$

According to ques,

=> $$\frac{30}{100}\times(x)=\frac{18}{100}\times(840-x)$$

=> $$30x=(18\times840)-18x$$

=> $$30x+18x=18\times840$$

=> $$x=\frac{18\times840}{48}=315$$

$$\therefore$$ Larger number = $$840-315=525$$

=> Ans - (D)
