If $$x + y = 52  and  x - y = 20$$, then what is the value of $$x : y$$?

Solution

$$x + y = 52 and x - y = 20$$

x = 36 and y = 16

$$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{36}{16}$$

So, the answer would be option a)9:4.
