Question 6

If the diameter of the two circles is 6 units and 10 units and a centre distance of 8 units. Calculate the number of common tangents that can be drawn to both the circle.

Solution

Diameter of both circles is 6 units and 10 units

=> Radius of first circle = $$x=5$$ units and of second circle = $$y=3$$ units

Also, distance between their centres = 8 units

=> Both circles touch each other externally and as we can see, a total of 3 common tangents can be drawn.

=> Ans - (B)
