The average of 5 consecutive odd numbers is 75. By adding which number, will the average become 76?

Solution

Given, Average of 5 consecutive odd numbers = 75

$$=$$> Sum of 5 consecutive odd numbers = 75 x 5 = 375

Let the number which is to be added = a

Average of 6 numbers = 76

$$=$$> $$\frac{375+a}{6}=76$$

$$=$$> $$375+a=76\times6$$

$$=$$> $$a=456-375$$

$$=$$> $$a=81$$

$$\therefore\ $$The number which is to be added = 81

Hence, the correct answer is Option C
