Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
12 - 16 x 25 ÷ 80 + 10 = 7

Solution

Expression : 12 - 16 x 25 ÷ 80 + 10 = 7

(A) : ÷ and x

L.H.S. = $$12-16\div25\times80+10$$

= $$12-51.2+10=-29.2\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : - and +

L.H.S. = $$12+16\times25\div80-10$$

= $$12+(\frac{25}{5})-10=7=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (B)
