XLRI Placements 2026
If you are an XLRI student heading into the final placement season, you must know which roles and which companies visited for your seniors. If you aspire to enter XLRI through XAT 2027, you need the placement data to calculate ROI and plan your expenses accordingly. XLRI released the PGDM BM and HRM placement report for the 2024-2026 batch. The batch also saw strong participation from established recruiters, along with 25 organisations that recruited from XLRI for the first time. For someone comparing a Tier 1 MBA college, the placement mix matters just as much as the headline package.
XLRI Placements 2026: Overview
The 2026 placement season covered the graduating batch of PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) students from XLRI Jamshedpur and XLRI Delhi-NCR. The institute reported 145 recruiting organisations participating in the process.
The average package stood at ₹31.40 lakh per annum, while the highest domestic offer reached ₹59 lakh per annum. The highest international offer stood at ₹1.10 crore.
However, the average package alone does not tell the complete story. The recruitment spread is important here. Students received opportunities across consulting, BFSI, sales and marketing, ITES, e-commerce, FMCG, automotive, energy, HR and general management.

Top 25 percentile average | ₹44.18 LPA |
The median package is worth looking at alongside the average. At ₹29 lakh, it shows that the placement outcome was not driven only by a small group of very high offers.
The top 10th and 25th percentile averages were ₹49.20 lakh and ₹44.18 lakh, respectively. This gives aspirants a better sense of how compensation rises towards the top end of the batch.
XLRI Batch Profile 2024-26
XLRI's NIRF 2025 ranking is #10 in Management, giving the students scope for prominent recruiters. One number that stands out is the share of students who received Pre-Placement Offers. 42.5% of the cohort received PPOs, showing how summer internship performance translated into final job opportunities for a sizeable part of the batch.
Batch and Placement Indicator | 2024–26 Batch |
Total students | 576 |
Recruiting organisations | 145 |
New recruiters | 25 |
PPOs | 42.5% |
Domestic offers | 576+ |
International offers | 2 |
Campuses | Jamshedpur and Delhi-NCR |
Programmes | PGDM (BM), PGDM (HRM) |
The recruiter base is also quite diverse. A student interested in consulting does not necessarily have to compete for the same type of role as someone targeting finance, HR, marketing or general management.
That flexibility is one of the useful things to consider when comparing XLRI with other leading management institutes.
XLRI Average and Highest Package 2026
The XLRI average package in 2026 was ₹31.40 LPA, while the highest domestic package was ₹59 LPA. The highest international offer stood at ₹1.10 crore. So, if you are looking at the placement report from an aspirant's perspective, then don’t get swayed by the highest package; take a look at the average and median packages too.
Salary Parameter | XLRI Placements 2026 |
Average package | ₹31.40 LPA |
Median package | ₹29 LPA |
Top 10 percentile average | ₹49.20 LPA |
Top 25 percentile average | ₹44.18 LPA |
Highest domestic package | ₹59 LPA |
Highest international package | ₹1.10 crore |
The report also shows a healthy difference between the median and the top-end compensation. That is expected because XLRI attracts recruiters across a wide range of functions, experience requirements and business verticals.
For an aspirant, therefore, it is better to ask “Which roles does XLRI offer?” rather than only “What is the highest package?”
XLRI Sector-Wise Placements 2026
Consulting was the largest sector by share of roles, accounting for 36% of the positions offered. BFSI ITES followed, while E-commerce, general management, FMCG, automotive and HR saw significant recruiter participation.

BFSI | 18% |
ITES | 15% |
Sales & Marketing | 12% |
XLRI Role-Wise Placements 2026
The role-wise picture is quite broad. Instead of treating every job as a single "management role", the placement report shows opportunities across specialised and generalist functions.
Role Area | Examples of Roles / Functions |
Consulting | Strategy, management consulting, HR consulting, technology consulting |
Finance | Investment banking, asset management, equity research, global markets |
Banking | Corporate banking, global banking, retail banking, wealth management |
Sales & Marketing | Sales, brand management, marketing, category roles |

General Management | Business management, strategy, chief of staff |
Operations | Supply chain, operations, manufacturing |
IT | Technology, IT services, digital and transformation roles |
Energy & Manufacturing | Business, operations, strategy and functional roles |
The HR side deserves separate attention because XLRI has traditionally been one of the strongest campuses for HR hiring. Companies recruited for HR consulting, recruitment, compensation and benefits, HR analytics and Chief of Staff positions.
Consulting firms such as Aon, Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC also recruited specifically for HR consulting roles.

XLRI ROI: Fees vs Average Package
Now comes the question most aspirants eventually ask: Does XLRI's placement outcome justify the programme fee? For a simple comparison, we can calculate the salary-to-fee ratio and the surplus over programme fee. This is not the same as actual take-home income or a complete financial ROI because taxes, living expenses, loans and interest are not included.
Batch | Programme Fee | Average / Mean Package | Package − Fee | Salary-to-Fee Ratio |
2024–26 | ₹28.60 L | ₹31.40 L | ₹2.80 L | 1.10× |
2023–25 | ₹25.80 L | ₹27.34 L | ₹1.54 L | 1.06× |
2022–24 | ₹24.00 L | ₹26.92 L | ₹2.92 L | 1.12× |
Formula used:
Simple ROI = (Average Package − Programme Fee) ÷ Programme Fee × 100
The 2024-26 numbers show that the average annual package is higher than the academic programme fee. But students should not read this as “the entire fee will be recovered in the first year.”
There are living costs, taxes, personal expenses and potentially an education loan to consider. The salary figure is also a CTC figure rather than money deposited into the bank account.
XLRI Placements 2026: Conclusion
The XLRI 2026 placement outcome provides a strong earning base relative to the programme cost, but your actual payback period will depend on your role, CTC structure, loan and spending. For an XAT 2027 aspirant, this is perhaps more useful than simply comparing the highest package across colleges. The institute combines a broad recruiter base with strong participation from companies that repeatedly recruit from the campus. The 42.5% PPO figure also shows that internships can play a meaningful role in the final placement journey.
