XLRI Delhi Minimum Graduation Percentage Required
Where most other IIMs and reputed business schools require a minimum percentage in graduation (50% (or 45% for reserved categories) as the minimum in graduation) XLRI does not specify a minimum percentage for PGDM-BM.
What This Means for Applicants:
Pass Class is Sufficient: You are really eligible if you've passed your diploma & obtained your passing/ final degree without active backlogs.
Holistic Profile Evaluation: There are no minimum marks required to be eligible for shortlisting but your Class 10, Class 12 and graduation marks are considered in the comprehensive profile assessment stage at the time of final shortlisting.
Exception for Specialized Programs: PGDM-IEV (Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Venture Development) and Executive Fellow candidates need to have a minimum aggregate of 50% to 60%.

Equal Opportunity: XLRI considers not only overall ability but also critical thinking and leadership potential. A large percentage of each PGDM batch is made up of students coming directly from college.
Selection Focus for Freshers: As freshers lack a corporate history, their selection focus is:
- High XAT percentiles (both overall and sectional).
- Academic consistency throughout school and graduation.
- Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, positions of responsibility in college clubs, internships and the Personal Interview (PI) round.
Is Work Experience Required for XLRI Delhi Admission?
No, work experience is not mandatory for application to the two-year PGDM-BM.
Work Experience is applicable only for Executive PGDM (General Management) Program. This program is a minimum 36 months to 60 months of uninterrupted full-time executive work experience. In the flagship two-year PGDM (Full-time), zero work experience candidates find themselves in the same pool with those having 12 months to 48 months of full-time work experience.
How XLRI Evaluates Work Experience
Candidates with experience outside of the classroom Full-time corporate experience. Profile credits are awarded on the basis of the duration of the experience, the nature of the designation, and the quality of the brand.
Work Experience Duration | Evaluation Advantage | Strategic Observations |
0 Months (Freshers) | Neutral (0 work-ex points) | Evaluated on academic vigor, extra-curriculars, and XAT marks. |
1 - 11 Months | Minimal additional weight | Shows early corporate exposure; questions focus on company operations. |
12 - 36 Months | Optimal Sweet Spot | Maximum profile points; demonstrates practical teamwork and accountability. |
37 - 48 Months | Favorable weight | High expectations regarding domain leadership and management readiness. |

XLRI Delhi Admission Criteria Through XAT 2027
Getting into XLRI Delhi-NCR involves going through a funnel of multi stages. Understanding each phase helps applicants prepare systematically.
Stage 1: Entrance Exam
XAT 2027 will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2027, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The topics included in the exam are verbal ability, decision making, quantitative ability and data interpretation.
Stage 2: sectional and overall cut offs
One unique aspect of XLRI's admission procedure is the sectional cutoffs.
XLRI releases different campus wise and gender wise cutoffs every year. The Delhi-NCR cutoffs for the PGDM-BM track are quite similar to Jamshedpur:
Section | Expected Cutoff (Male Aspirants) | Expected Cutoff (Female Aspirants) |
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning (VALR) | ~80 - 85 Percentile | ~78 - 82 Percentile |
Decision Making (DM) | ~80 - 85 Percentile | ~76 - 80 Percentile |
Quantitative Ability & DI (QA/DI) | ~83 - 88 Percentile | ~78 - 82 Percentile |
Overall XAT Benchmark | ~94 - 96 Percentile | ~88 - 92 Percentile |
Stage 3: Personal Interview (PI)
Candidates who qualify both sectional and overall scores are then eligible for the Personal Interview rounds which take place either in large metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata or through systematically managed online panels.
Many business schools interviews will ask superficial questions at this stage, but XLRI interviews are tough:
- Decision-Making Defensibility: Candidates are routinely grilled on their behavioral reasoning and trading rationale/ethics.
- Academics and Projects: First year students will receive an in-depth exploration of their UG majors, terminal year project work, and academic endeavors.
- Industry & Current Affairs: Interviews probe extensively how candidates' current employer makes money, what the industry structure looks like, and what macroeconomic policies affect company earnings.
Stage 4: Final Composite Merit List Calculation
An interview call does not ensure admission. The final admission is through a composite score model on which the candidate is judged on the basis of multiple factors:
Evaluation Component | Approximate Weightage | Key Focus Areas |
XAT Performance | 55% - 60% | Aptitude, analytical speed, and sectional balance. |
Personal Interview (PI) | 25% - 30% | Critical thinking, decision-making logic, business awareness, and fit. |
Profile, Diversity & Work Experience | 10% - 15% | Quality of prior work, academic track record, and gender/academic diversity. |
