Category-Wise GFTI CSE Round 2 Cutoff 2026

The cutoff varies across reservation categories. The table below highlights the closing ranks for major reservation categories under the All India quota.

Note: OPEN category closing ranks shown below are CRL (Common Rank List) ranks. EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST closing ranks are Category Ranks, not CRL ranks. JoSAA allots reserved seats against a candidate's category-specific rank, not their CRL rank, so a candidate with CRL 4,079 does not necessarily hold EWS rank 4,079. These are two separate ranking lists.

GFTI Round 2 Cutoff 2026 vs Round 1

Changes were noted in the GFTI CSE Round 2 cutoff in various institutes owing to seat upgradation, drop in candidates, and new admissions at the time of JoSAA counseling. Although some of the top GFTIs like BIT Mesra continued to be tough for admission, most others exhibited higher closing ranks in Round 2, suggesting better chances of admission for candidates with relatively poor ranks in JEE Main. The following table provides the comparison between the OPEN (All India Quota) closing ranks of selected GFTIs for B.Tech in CSE program.

Factors Affecting GFTI CSE Round 2 Cutoff

Several factors determine the GFTI CSE Round 2 cutoff every year:

  • Number of applicants participating in JoSAA counselling
  • Difficulty level of JEE Main 2026
  • Total CSE seats available in GFTIs
  • Candidate preference during choice filling
  • Reservation category
  • Previous round seat acceptance and withdrawals
  • Institute popularity and placement record
  • Home State and Other State seat distribution (where applicable)

Because these factors vary annually, the cutoff changes every year. Candidates should rely on the official JoSAA opening and closing rank data while analysing admission possibilities.

Conclusion

The GFTI CSE Round 2 Cutoff 2026 provides a clear picture of admission trends in Government Funded Technical Institutes under JoSAA counselling. It helps students understand realistic chances based on their JEE Main rank, category, and institute preference. By analysing Round 1 and Round 2 changes, candidates can make smarter choices during JoSAA choice filling. Since cutoffs vary every year, students should always refer to official JoSAA opening and closing rank data for accurate admission planning.
