FT Masters in Management Rankings 2026

The 2026 FT MiM ranking marks the 22nd edition of the global assessment. It evaluates full-time, cohort-based MiM programmes designed for candidates with little or no work experience.

  • Participating schools must also hold accreditation from AACSB or EFMD: EQUIS. The ranking focuses on general management programmes rather than specialised master's courses.

The Financial Times uses two separate surveys to calculate its rankings.

  • Business schools provide institutional information,
  • Alumni provide career and salary details.

This year, alumni who completed their MiM in 2023 contributed to the survey. About 9,489 alumni responded, producing a response rate close to 30%.

  • The ranking uses 19 separate criteria, divided between alumni feedback and school-provided information. Alumni responses account for 56% of the total ranking weight.
  • School data contributes the remaining 44%, covering factors such as faculty, diversity, sustainability, and international exposure.
  • Salary remains a major pillar of the ranking methodology. The largest component focuses on current average alumni salary, followed by salary growth after graduation.

The methodology therefore gives you a useful view of financial outcomes. However, salary alone cannot explain the complete value of an MiM programme.

Key Metrics and Categories

The 2026 ranking assesses schools across several broad areas, with salary remaining especially influential.

  • Salary & Financials:
    • Salary today
    • Salary percentage increase
    • Value for money rank
  • Career Progression & Mobility:
    • Career progress rank
    • Career services rank
    • International work mobility rank
    • Alumni network rank
    • International course experience rank
  • Diversity & Faculty:
    • International students and International faculty
    • Female students and Female faculty
    • Faculty with doctorates
    • Women on board
  • Sustainability & Ethics:
    • Carbon footprint rank
    • ESG and net zero teaching rank
    • Aims achieved

These categories create a wider picture than salary figures alone. A programme can perform strongly through career services, mobility, or international exposure.

That makes the ranking particularly useful when comparing programmes across different countries. Your assessment can therefore move beyond a single headline rank.

FT MBA Ranking 2026: Conclusion

The FT Masters in Management Rankings 2026 highlight the growing global competition among leading management schools. University of St Gallen leads the global table, while IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, SPJIMR and XLRI strengthen India's presence among internationally ranked management institutions.

However, students should not select a B-school based solely on its FT MiM rank or weighted salary. Compare placement outcomes, fees, entrance exam cutoffs, programme structure, career opportunities and ROI before applying. The strongest choice is ultimately the college that best matches your career goals and financial expectations.
