Missing Observation from Mean

If $$n$$ observations have mean $$\bar{x}$$, then:

$$\sum x_i=n\bar{x}$$

If one observation $$a$$ is missing:

$$a=n\bar{x}-\sum_{\text{known}}x_i$$

Usage

- Used to determine an unknown observation when the mean is given.
