Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM)

SHM is a periodic motion in which restoring force is directly proportional to displacement and opposite in direction.

### Condition

$$F\propto-x$$

### Equation

$$F=-kx$$

### Terminologies

- F β†’ Restoring force.

- k β†’ Force constant.

- x β†’ Displacement from mean position.

### Conditions / Special Cases

Acceleration is proportional to displacement:

$$a\propto-x$$

### Usage

- Used in spring and pendulum oscillations.
