CAT age limit 2025: CAT is one of the most competitive MBA entrance exams in India, given by candidates every year to get admission into prestigious institutions like the IIM colleges and other top MBA colleges. Among candidates appearing for CAT 2025, one of the common doubt that surface is whether there is an age limit to appear for CAT.

CAT Eigibility Criteria 2025

The CAT eligibility criteria for applicants who want to appear for CAT 2026 is as follows:

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of reserved category) awarded by any University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as an University.
  • Candidates who have completed professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA/CMA or are Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI) can also apply for CAT exam with required percentage.
  • Final year students can also apply.

Whether the candidate in their late 20s or 30s, as long as they meet the educational qualifications requirements, they are eligible to appear for the exam. In fact, work experience can become advantageous for a candidate as many IIMs and top B-schools value industry exposure when evaluating candidates.

CAT age limit for general category

Candidates belonging to the General category face no minimum or maximum age limits for CAT 2025 unlike other exams like government exams. The primary requirement is holding a bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA from a recognized university. Final-year undergraduate students are also eligible to apply, given that they meet the graduation criteria upon completion.

CAT age limit for SC/ST/OBC

For reserved category candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), CAT 2025 policies do not restrict them from appearing for CAT exam given that they fulfill the educational qualification requirements which includes SC/ST candidates must have secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in their bachelor's degree, while OBC candidates are required to have at least 50% aggregate marks. Final-year students in these categories are also eligible to apply, subject to meeting the necessary academic criteria upon graduation.
