What is the reflection of the point (5, 2) in the line x = -3?

Solution

Reflection of point $$(x,y)$$ in the line $$x=a$$ is = $$(-x+2a,y)$$

and in line $$y=b$$ is = $$(x,-y+2b)$$

Thus, reflection of the point (5, 2) in the line x = -3

= $$[(-5+2\times-3),2]$$

= $$(-11,2)$$
