Question 90

In ΔABC, the angle bisector of ∠A cuts BC at E. Find length of AC, if lengths of AB, BE and EC are 9 cm, 3.6 cm and 2.4 cm?

Solution

AE is the angle bisector and let AC = $$x$$ cm

Using angle bisector theorem,

=> $$\frac{AB}{BE} = \frac{AC}{CE}$$

=> $$\frac{9}{3.6} = \frac{x}{2.4}$$

=> $$x = 2.4 \times 2.5 = 6$$ cm
