Walking at the rate of 4 kmph a man covers certain distance in 2 hrs 45 min. Running at a speed of 16.5 kmph the man will cover the same distance in how many minutes ?

Solution

Distance covered by the man walking at 4 kmph in 2 hrs 45 min

= speed * time

= 4 * (2 + $$\frac{45}{60}$$) = 4 * $$\frac{11}{4}$$

= 11 km

Now, time required to cover 11 km at 16.5 kmph

= $$\frac{distance}{speed}$$

= $$\frac{11}{16.5}$$ = $$\frac{2}{3}$$ hrs

= $$\frac{2}{3} * 60$$ = 40 minutes
