The average cost of 5 items in a shopping list is Rs 650. If one more item whose cost is Rs 1400 is added to the list what will be the new average (in Rs)?

Solution

Average cost of 5 items = Rs. 650

=> Total cost of 5 items = $$650\times5=Rs.$$ $$3250$$

New cost when an item with cost Rs. 1400 is added = $$3250+1400=Rs.$$ $$4650$$

$$\therefore$$ New average = $$\frac{4650}{6}=Rs.$$ $$775$$

=> Ans - (A)
