Solution

Let cost price of 1 T-shirt = Rs. $$x$$

Cost price of 5 T-shirts = $$5 \times x = Rs. 5x$$

If 2 T-shirts are offered free on purchase of 3 T-shirts, => Cost of 3 T-shirts = $$3 \times x = Rs. 3x$$

=> Effective discount = $$\frac{5x - 3x}{5x} \times 100$$

= $$\frac{200}{5} = 40\%$$

=> Ans - (A)
