Solution

Let the number be $$x$$

=> $$\frac{7}{8} \times \frac{5}{4} \times x = 315$$

=> $$x = 9 \times 8 \times 4 = 32 \times 9$$

$$\therefore$$ 5/9th of the number = $$\frac{5}{9} \times 32 \times 9$$

= 160
