Question 69

If x - 1/x = 3, The value of $$x^2 + 1/x^2$$ is

Expression : $$x - \frac{1}{x} = 3$$

Squaring both sides, we get :

=> $$x^2 + \frac{1}{x^2} - 2.x.\frac{1}{x} = 9$$

=> $$x^2 + \frac{1}{x^2} - 2 = 9$$

=> $$x^2 + \frac{1}{x^2} = 9 + 2 = 11$$
