Four numbers are in the ratio of 2 : 5 : 3 : 8 respectively. If the sum of these four numbers is 432, then what is the sum of first and fourth number?
Solution
Let the four numbers be 2x,5x,3x and 8x.
Sum of four numbers = 2x+5x+3x+8x = 18x
Given, 18x = 432 => x = 24
Then, Sum of first and last numbers = 2x+8x = 10x = 10*24 = 240.
