The length of platform is double of the length of train. Speed of the train is 144 km/hr.If train crosses the platform in 30 seconds, then what is the length of the platform?
Let the length of the train and the platform be T m and P m respectively.
Speed of the train = $$144 km/hr = 144\times\dfrac{5}{18} = 40 m/sec$$
Given, P = 2T
$$\dfrac{T+P}{40} = 30$$
=> $$\dfrac{T+2T}{40} = 30$$
=> $$\dfrac{3T}{40} = 30$$
=> $$3T = 1200 => T = 400$$
Hence, Length of the train = 400 m
Therefore, Length of the platform = 2*400 = 800 m
