The ratio of time taken by A and B to cover a certain distance is 7 : 9. The ratio of their respective speed will be:

Solution

Let the distance be x km.
Let the time taken by A and B to cover x km be 7a hours and 9a hours respectively.
Then, Ratio of their speeds = $$\dfrac{x}{7a} : \dfrac{x}{9a} = \dfrac{1}{7} : \dfrac{1}{9} = 9 : 7$$
