If cost price of 80 articles is equal to the selling price of 50 articles, then what will be the profit percentage?
Solution
Given $$80CP = 50SP$$
$$\dfrac{SP}{CP} = \dfrac{80}{50}$$
Subtracting 1 from both sides
$$\dfrac{SP}{CP} - 1 = \dfrac{80}{50} - 1$$
$$\dfrac{SP-CP}{CP} = \dfrac{80-50}{50} = \dfrac{30}{50}$$
Multiplying 100 on both sides
$$\dfrac{SP-CP}{CP}\times100 = \dfrac{30}{50}\times100 = 60$$%
