A is 40% more efficient than B and C is 20% less efficient than B. Working together, they can complete a task in 20 hours. In how many hours will A alone complete 35% of that task?
Let efficiency of B 10,
Efficiency of A = 40% of B = 14
Efficiency of C = 80% of B = 8
Now total work = total efficiency
$$\times\ $$total day$$\left(14+10+8\right)\times\ 20=640$$
Time taken by A alone to complete 35% of work = $$640\times\ \frac{35}{100}\times\ \frac{1}{14}=16$$
