Question 66

The wheel of a motor car makes 1000 revolutions in moving 440 m. The diameter (in metre) of the wheel is

Solution

In 1 revolution, the wheel covers the the circumference.

Distance covered in 1000 revolutions = 440 m

=> Distance covered in 1 revolution = 0.44 m

=> $$2 \pi r = 0.44$$

=> $$2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times r = 0.44$$

=> $$r = \frac{0.44 \times 7}{44} = 0.07$$ m

$$\therefore$$ Diameter of wheel = $$2 \times 0.07 = 0.14$$ m
