The ratio between two numbers is 2 : 3. If each number is increased by 4, the ratio between them becomes 5 : 7, the difference between the numbers is

Solution

Let the numbers be $$2x$$ and $$3x$$

Acc. to ques, => $$\frac{2x + 4}{3x + 4} = \frac{5}{7}$$

=> $$14x + 28 = 15x + 20$$

=> $$x = 28 - 20 = 8$$

$$\therefore$$ Difference between the numbers = $$3x - 2x$$

= $$x = 8$$
