Solution

If $$\frac{1}{2} : x :: x : \frac{1}{8}$$.

$$\frac{\frac{1}{2}}{x}\ =\ \frac{x}{\frac{1}{8}}$$

$$x \times x = \frac{1}{2} \times \frac{1}{8}$$

$$x^2=\frac{1}{16}$$

So $$x = \frac{1}{4}$$ or $$-\frac{1}{4}$$

positive value of $$x$$ = $$\frac{1}{4}$$
