Question 65

The diameter of a circle is equal to the side of the square. What is the area of the square if the area of the circle is 49π sq cm?

Solution

Let radius of circle = $$r$$ cm

Area of circle = $$\pi r^2 = 49 \pi$$

=> $$r^2 = 49$$

=> $$r = \sqrt{49} = 7$$ cm

Thus, diameter of circle = Side of square = $$2 \times 7 = 14$$ cm

$$\therefore$$ Area of square = $$(14)^2 = 196 cm^2$$

=> Ans - (A)
