Question 64

Working 2 hours in a day, P can complete a work in 10 days and working 5 hours in a day, Q can complete the same work in 6 days. Working 3 hours in a day, in how many days both P and Q together can complete the same work?

Solution

P complete work in 20 hours and Q complete in 30 hours.

Let total work to be done = L.C.M.(20,30) = 60 units

=> P's efficiency = $$\frac{60}{20}=3$$ units/hr and Q's efficiency = $$2$$ units/hr

Now, if they work 3 hours in a day, work done by them = $$3\times(3+2)=15$$ units

$$\therefore$$ Number of days taken = $$\frac{60}{15}=4$$ days

=> Ans - (C)
