The average weight of 10 parcels is 1.7 kg. Addition of another new parcel reduces the average weight by 60 gram. What is the weight , in kg, of the new parcel?

Solution

Let the weight of new parcel = $$x$$ kg

Average weight of 10 parcels = 1.7 kg

=> Total weight of 10 parcels = $$1.7 \times 10=17$$ kg

After adding the new parcel, average weight = $$1.7-0.06=1.64$$ kg

=> $$\frac{17+x}{11}=1.64$$

=> $$17+x=1.64 \times 11=18.04$$

=> $$x=18.04-17=1.04$$ kg

=> Ans - (A)
